A couple of cards and a mini tutorial

American Crafts have come out with some lovely paper designs recently, including their Abode range, which you can find in the shop here.

As the papers feature houses I thought they would be perfect for 'New Home' cards. For the first card I stamped an image onto white card using the Hero Arts Row of Houses Stamp, which I also embossed with some clear embossing powder. After adding the image to my card I added a punched border and some ribbon to finish off.

For the second card I decided to do something a bit more elaborate, so chose a stepper card design. I have shown on the diagram at the end of the post where the cut and fold lines are if you want to make your own.

To summarise, firstly trim you piece of A4 card to 28cm long (width stays the same). Mark up where you want your folds at 2.5cm, 5cm, 9.5cm,14cm and 21cm (use a pencil so you can rub out afterwards) I have drawn arrows on my diagram to show how far up the card the fold lines need to be (these are not cut lines). There is only one cut line on the whole card - how far across you put this is entirely up to you - this means you can adjust so that you have bigger or smaller steps. Decide on this measurement first so you know how far across your fold lines need to go. It is then a case of folding the card, mountain folds and valley folds alternating as marked on my diagram. I would recommend using a bone folder to make your creases for a neater finish. Once finished the card fits and C5/A5 envelope.

I cut out the little houses from the patterned paper to make rows of houses, I glued them to the steps with a little bit of glue at the base of each house.

Here is the diagram of the card construction (you can click on this to see it bigger) -

Crop layout

At every crop, it's always amazing to see just how many layouts some can do ... not, me! I'll admit, if I do one, well that's quite a record - and in my defence, I'm too busy making teas and coffees and chatting LOL.  But well, Petra ..... lets just say if she only completes one layout in an evening, we're thinking she must be coming down with something!

Plus ... she always manages to have the perfect photo to go with the crop kits - and this one was just the same.  Just look at the stunning layout she created using the crop kit with papers from Cosmo Cricket.  The kit can be found Here

More from CC Designs

Hi, Clare here. I wanted to share a couple of cards made with one of the lovely stamps from CC Designs that you can purchase at Gottacraft. This one is 'Swiss Miss Rosalie', and you can find her here.

I used Promarkers to colour her in and added some ribbon and patterned paper from my own stash as well as a flower made up of several punched flowers, crumpled and then stuck together.

The papers were again from my own stash (they are Amy Butler). This time I stamped the image again onto patterned paper and cut out the dress and shoes to my little lady.

The pearls and gems on both cards are from Prima - keep an eye out as Sandra tells me she will be stocking these in the shop very soon!

Belles & Whistles - A Merry-Go!

Hello! Suzie here, I just wanted to share some cards that I have made with the lastest goodies Sandra sent me. The stamp I have used is from Belles and Whistles Forever Young collection and is called 'A Merry-Go' and is available from Gotta Craft. I love this stamp and coloured it with my faithful Promarkers and added some stickles for sparkle, it reminds me of a merry go round that I always loved to go on when I went on holiday as a child. The papers I have used are gorgeous and they are Cosmic Cricket, Delovely collection and they are double sided and again they are available in the Gotta Craft shop.

Have a great weekend!

Suzie x

Greeting Farm Cheeky Girls

Hi, Caryn here!  Thought I'd hop in to share a couple of cards done with one of the fabulous stamps Sandra sent me to play with - it's from The Greeting Farm and is part of their Cheeky collection.  I love the 50's style of these images and they're a joy to colour with your ProMarkers.  This and all the other Cheeky girl stamps are available in the shop as well as a great range of ProMarkers.  The papers are from the Echo Park range - they're double-sided too - yay!
The first one was made with a friend of mine in mind - hence the pink hair!!
Hugs,
Caryn xxx

More My Minds Eye

How can August be nearly over already? Sandra is squeezing in a quick, well earned break this week - and that gives me a chance to show you what I've been doing with some of the latest arrivals.

I'm Sian and I'm a My Minds Eye fan. I love looking forward to all the new releases at this time of year. My very favourite this time round has to be MME's Lost and Found. Honestly, I can't tell you how much I enjoyed creating with these beautiful papers. You can check them out in the shop here and see the range of colours, the glitter, the gorgeous little details..

I used some Portobello Road for this layout

and some Market Street for this one

Double sided papers, strong enough to rip and twist into roses or punch into butterflies.. or whatever else you fancy. I love them.

First Kit Layout

I wanted to share this lovely layout with you all, that was created by Jo, a very talented scrapper, whose blog "Captured on Film" always makes great reading.

Isn't the simplicity of this layout striking? It does help she's an amazing photographer, so a good picture makes any paper look good.

The Indie Girl, Sassafras papers are just so scrummy, and being double sided, you're spoilt for choice, and although the kit has sold out, you can still get hold of the papers on the site

It's here ... it's going fast .... and it's GORGEOUS ... yup, the latest papers from My Minds Eye.  The collection called Lost & Found, can be found here - and check in soon, to see just how the Design Team are using it ... but really, you're gonna love it.

All Sold Out

Goodness, our August kit sold out so quickly - and if you were unlucky and didn't manage to get hold of the gorgeous kit, don't worry the gorgeous papers from Sassafras’s Indie Girl range are available to buy separately.

The fact that the papers are double sided, makes choosing a side to use so much harder – still, I managed, with this “before” layout of our new kitchen.

Welcome Sian

Such exciting news :) ... Gotta Craft has a new Design Team member. And trust me, you're going to want to go and check out her amazing blog and see the gorgeous work she creates. Here is a little bit about Sian, in her own words.

"I'm Sian and I've been living the scrapbooking life for a couple of years now. I wouldn't have it any other way! When I'm not cutting and sticking I'm sewing, knitting, reading or firing up my slow cooker. I also hoard magazines and drink far too much coffee. I live with my husband and our teenage son and daughter in a very tall house; and when I want to make something I love to climb the stairs and create. My blog comes to you From High In The Sky"
